The EARTH ARCHITECTURE website focuses on architecture constructed of mud brick (adobe), rammed earth (pisé), compressed earth block or other methods of earthen construction and serves as a database for the discussion and dissemination of events, resources, and images of earth architecture in the context of contemporary architecture culture.
En Francia está el centro CRATerre- ENSAG Culturas constructivas y desarrollo sostenible. Situado en Grenoble, disponen de abundante documentación on-line (descargables en pdf la mayoría y bastante útiles, aunque hay que saber francés) además de ofrecer cursos, encuentros y con mucha experiencia en la experimentación y desarrollo de la arquitectura con tierra.
En España tenemos la revista Eco-habitar, que aunque menos centrada en la arquitectura de tierra, dispone de temas relacionados.
Como ejemplo de arquitecto está Nader Khalili, arquitecto californiano de origen iraní, inventor del superadobe, y director del Cal-Earth Instituto californiano del arte y la arquitectura en tierra.
Y en relación con todo ello nos podemos poner a pensar en el OPEN ARCHITECTURE CHALLENGE
The AMD Open Architecture Challenge is an open, international design competition. Its aim is to develop not one but many solutions for building sustainable, multi-purpose, low-cost technology facilities for those who need them most. Three community partners have been selected to participate in this year's Challenge. Each site poses a unique set of design constraints and opportunities. While the needs of each client are unique, the hurdles they face in embracing technology to offer access to education, healthcare and the global marketplace are shared by millions of people in communities all over the world.
